Phyllis K. Zieman (nee Mohr), of Darien, IL went to join her dear husband in heaven – peacefully surrounded by loved ones on 6/26/2017. Phyllis was born October 19, 1935 in Chicago IL. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents – Virgil and Lolita Mohr of Chicago, as well as two siblings.
Phyllis loved being a homemaker and a super-mom. After she married Robert they settled in Oak Lawn Illinois where they began raising their children. After a few years in Oak Lawn, Phyllis and her family moved to Darien where she was active in her church (with the children of course) as well as being a loving foster parent. Phyllis loved to sing, read, cook and bring joy to others, including her husband and her seven children. Phyllis kept in regular contact with her Calumet HS ladies for more than 60 years. Phyllis was a positive role model for younger women and had a huge influence on the lives of many children. As you can tell, children were her primary passion.
Phyllis is survived by her seven loving children and their spouses: Karen/(Rich) Borucki; Robert/(JoAnne), Thomas/ (Diane), Kenneth/(Val) Zieman, Ronnie/(Richard) Forcone; Nancy/(Derek) Cepolski; and Amy/(Kevin) Corlew.
Phyllis shepherded and deeply loved her twenty one grandchildren: Michael/(Bethany) Borucki, Lauren/(Peter) Johnson; Justin, Matthew/(Kristine), and Nathan Zieman; Sarah/(Zack) Jones, Lucas/(Laurin), Dane, Ricky, Josiah, Thomas, and Grace Zieman; Ashley Zieman and Katie/(Brad) Nordlund; Karissa Forcone; Derek, Rebekah, and Rachel Cepolski; Gabe, Amaya, and Eliana Corlew. She had a special place in her heart for her three great grandchildren: Leilah Lynn Zieman, Silas Johnson and Hunter Jones. Phyllis was a dear Aunt to her two nephews Chuck/(Alice) and the late Rick/(Joellen) Polcaster.
Mommy, Gramma, “GiGi”– we miss you already, but know that you are feeling no pain in heaven with Dad making him his favorite meals. We’ll see you soon and very soon..
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 16th beginning at 10:00 am., with a memorial service following at 11:00 am. – Hope Church 5707 Wolf Rd. La Grange, Illinois 60525 (708) 246-2780. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service at the church. A private interment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
